In the name of God, the All Gracious, the All Merciful

 

 

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

        الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

Those who disbelieved and repelled from the path of God2304, He nullifies their works.

 وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّلِحَاتِ وَآمَنُوا بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ

And those who believe and lead a righteous life, and believe in what was revealed to Muhammad which is the truth from their Lord, He will remit their sins and improve their condition.

  ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا اتَّبَعُوا الْبَطِلَ وَأَنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّبَعُوا الْحَقَّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ كَذَلِكَ يَضْرِبُ اللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ أَمْثَالَهُمْ

This is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood and those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. God2305thus cites examples for the people.

     فَإِذا لَقِيتُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَضَرْبَ الرِّقَابِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَثْخَنْتُمُوهُمْ فَشُدُّوا الْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنًّا بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَاءً حَتَّى تَضَعَ الْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا ذَلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ لانْتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَكِنْ لِيَبْلُوَ بَعْضَكُمْ بِبَعْضٍ وَالَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَلَنْ يُضِلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ

Therefore, when you meet those who disbelieved, you may then face a slave war, once they surrender, then you shall uphold all treaties, thereafter you maybe generous or you may ask for reparation until the war is over. This is so decreed. And had God2306 willed, He could have certainly granted you victory over them, but He sets up some of you as test for others. As for those who get killed in the cause of God2307, He will never put their works to waste.

                               سَيَهْدِيهِمْ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَهُمْ

He will soon guide them and improve their condition.

                            وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ

And He will admit them into the Garden which He has described for them.

    يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ

O you who believe, if you support God2308, He will support you, and He will strengthen your foothold.

             وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَتَعْسًا لَهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَلَهُمْ

As for those who disbelieve, hardship shall be their share and He nullifies their works.

       ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَلَهُمْ

This is because they hated what God2309 has revealed, therefore, all their work is in vain.

    أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الأرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ دَمَّرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلِلْكَفِرِينَ أَمْثَلُهَا

Do they not travel throughout the land and see the consequences for those before them? God2310 destroyed them and awaiting the disbelievers is a similar fate.

     ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَفِرِينَ لا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ

This is because God2309 is indeed the Lord of those who believe, while those who disbelieve have no Lord.

  إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّلِحَاتِ جَنَّتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأنْهَرُ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ الأنْعَمُ وَالنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَهُمْ

Indeed, God2310 will admit those who believe and lead a righteous life into Gardens with flowing streams beneath them; while those who disbelieve will enjoy and eat like the livestock eat and The Fire will be reserved for them as an abode.

             وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ هِيَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِنْ قَرْيَتِكَ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ فَلا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ

And how many communities did We annihilate who were more powerful than your community who evicted you? Consequently, there was no one to help them.

   أَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ كَمَنْ زُيِّنَ لَهُ سُوءُ عَمَلِهِ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ

Is therefore the one who has a proof from his Lord like the one whose evil works are adorned for him and follows his desires?

   مَثَلُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ فِيهَا أَنْهَرٌ مِنْ مَاءٍ غَيْرِ آسِنٍ وَأَنْهَرٌ مِنْ لَبَنٍ لَمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُ وَأَنْهَرٌ مِنْ خَمْرٍ لَذَّةٍ لِلشَّرِبِينَ وَأَنْهَرٌ مِنْ عَسَلٍ مُصَفًّى وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَتِ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ كَمَنْ هُوَ خَلِدٌ فِي النَّارِ وَسُقُوا مَاءً حَمِيمًا فَقَطَّعَ أَمْعَاءَهُمْ

Here is the allegory of the Garden that has been promised to the righteous.  In it are rivers of water never polluted and rivers of milk with constant taste, and rivers of wine, delicious to drinkers, and rivers of pure honey. Therein are all kinds of fruits provided for them, as well as forgiveness from their Lord.  Is this one like the one who is in The fire for eternity and drinks hellish water which rips his guts into pieces?

  وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ حَتَّى إِذَا خَرَجُوا مِنْ عِنْدِكَ قَالُوا لِلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ مَاذَا قَالَ آنِفًا أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ

And among them are those who listen to you, but once they leave your sight, they say to those who possess knowledge; what did he just say?  These are the ones whom God2311 has sealed their hearts and they follow their desires.

           وَالَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْا زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَآتَاهُمْ تَقْوَاهُمْ

As for those who are guided, He increases their guidance, and grants them righteousness.

      فَهَلْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلا السَّاعَةَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَقَدْ جَاءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا فَأَنَّى لَهُمْ إِذَا جَاءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَاهُمْ

Are they then waiting for the Hour to come to them suddenly? All its necessary conditions have already been met. How could the message benefit them once it arrives?

   فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَتِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَاكُمْ

Therefore, you shall know that there is no god except God2312 and ask forgiveness for your sins and for that of the believing men and the believing women. And God2313 fully knows your path and your final destiny.

    وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَوْلا نُزِّلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَإِذَا أُنْزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ مُحْكَمَةٌ وَذُكِرَ فِيهَا الْقِتَالُ رَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ نَظَرَ الْمَغْشِيِّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ فَأَوْلَى لَهُمْ

And those who believe say, why is not a sura being revealed? However, when a straight-forward sura is revealed, and fighting is mentioned therein, you will see those with a disease in their hearts looking at you with a look of the one that death has already overwhelmed him. However, their priority should be-

  طَاعَةٌ وَقَوْلٌ مَعْرُوفٌ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ الأمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا اللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ

-obedience and righteous utterance. Then when a decision is made, if they are truthful with God2314 it would be surely better for them.

        فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَنْ تُفْسِدُوا فِي الأرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُوا أَرْحَامَكُمْ

Therefore, is it your plan that when you leave, you spread evil throughout the land and cut off all relations with your relatives?

    أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَى أَبْصَرَهُمْ

These are the ones that God2315 has cursed; consequently, He has made them deaf and has blinded their eyes.
